Children's Ministries
During Contemporary Service at 10:00 and Sunday School (approximately 11:30)
I'm new here. How do I check my child into the Kid's Zone?
We ask that you check your child in at the Kids' Zone prior to the worship service. A volunteer will be present 15 minutes prior to the service. To check your child in, we will need their name(s), your name, and any allergy information.
What will my child be learning?
We are currently using the Explore the Bible curriculum. The curriculum uses a book-by-book format to bring the Bible to life through rich study and engaging Bible objects. The lessons equip kids with foundational Bible knowledge and skills that encourage them to live that they learn wherever they go. They will be exposed to all of the books of the Bible and see how Christ is the center of the entire story, from beginning to end!
How is Sunday morning structured?
10:00-10:15 Worship through songs/offerings; memory work (a selection from the following: The 10 Commandments, books of the Bible, Galatians 5:22- 23, Psalm 23, John 3:16, Proverbs 3:5-6, and Ephesians 2:8-10).
10:15-11:00 Preschoolers and Elementary age children split up into classes for their lessons.
11:10 play time until parents or guardians arrive.
I would like to attend an adult Sunday school class. Is there anything for my child during that time?
Yes there is! Children are released to parents and guardians after the morning service for about 10-15 minutes of coffee connection time. This gives everyone a chance to have a snack and to fellowship with one another. When you are ready to attend the adult class, please bring your child back to the Kid's Zone. During this time we use a book called "Who is God? And Can I really Know Him?". It is a book about developing a biblical worldview built on the foundation of God's truth. Be sure to notify a volunteer if your family would like to stay for Sunday school when you pick up your child after the worship service.
Your child's safety is of great concern to us. All volunteers have been subject to a background check. If the child is not yet old enough to go to the bathroom alone, an usher must accompany the volunteer and the child to the bathroom to stand outside of the door for extra accountability.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding the children's ministry, please contact the director, Heather Collins, at 517-566-8481 or at office.subc@gmail.com
PSALM 78: 1-7
My people, hear my teaching; listen to the words of my mouth.
2 I will open my mouth with a parable; I will utter hidden things, things from of old--
3 things we have heard and known, things our ancestors have told us.
4 We will not hide them from their descendants; we will tell the next generation
the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, his power, and the wonders he has done.
5 He decreed statutes for Jacob and established the law in Israel,
which he commanded our ancestors to teach their children,
6 so the next generation would know them, even the children yet to be born,
and they in turn would tell their children.
7 Then they would put their trust in God and would not forget his deeds
but would keep his commands.
