JErald and Kayla Jones, lead pastor & children's coordinator

Jerald and Kayla Jones  grew up in the Lakewood community and have returned to minister here in Sunfield after having served for the past several years at McCallum United Brethren Church in Delton, MI. They bring with them their seven amazing children (left to right: back row Jaycie, Lilliana, Jerald, Rachel, Kayla, Isabelle; front row - Rowan, Zeppelin, Ellie). Jerald and Kayla are deeply rooted in the mission of Christ to fulfill the great commission and do "book of Acts" style ministry. They have fostered numerous children, and adopted four. They have started several micro-churches as a family. They believe that to fulfill Christ's mandate is to view love as a rugged commitment to be with someone and for someone unto Christ-likeness, as long as it takes. They have lived a life of service, and have engaged in co-vocational ministry as long as they have been called to ministry. For Apostle Paul, this looked like tent-making. For the Jones' it takes different shapes including home-steading, sheep-farming (perfect for a Pastor!) and other entrepreneurial Kingdom-building endeavors. Jerald is a pioneering, modern-day apostolic leader  seeking to walk in the steps of Christ unto God-possible adventures. Kayla is currently serving as Children's Ministry Coordinator at Sunfield. She is an amazing home school teacher, and spiritual mother to many with the heart and gifts of a pastor/evangelist. She loves children of all ages (young and old ones :-), and is gifted at ministering Biblical truth and facilitating spiritual growth in others.
They reside in Woodland, MI and feel called to move in the rhythms of Christ to see His purposes fulfilled throughout the tri-county area of Barry, Eaton and Ionia counties.

elizabeth & Richard busk, Worship & Youth

Elizabeth & Richard Busk serve as Sunfield's associate minister/worship leader (Elizabeth), and audio/visual tech coordinator (Richard). They began service at SUBC in 2019, and have been called to ministry, evangelism, and church-planting since they were young. 
Elizabeth has 25 years experience in worship leading, teaching and discipleship ministries, and brings that as her main gift to Sunfield. She also has served in many teaching and administrative roles both in secular work and ministry. Elizabeth also directs our children's outreach program, Kids Hope USA. Elizabeth also leads a regional ministry called Kingdom Women focused on fostering identity, spiritual growth and supernatural discipleship through worship, prayer, and activation in gifts of the Holy Spirit.
 Richard was raised in a ministry family in leadership of an apostolic international church-planting organization (The King's Word Ministries). He was raised in Arizona and Hawaii, but he says he loves our Michigan weather! He has been the audio visual team leader at SUBC since one fateful Sunday when as a visitor, he said out loud, "been there, done that," when the sound system went haywire. He was recruited on the spot, and has been serving that team ever since. He is  engaged co-vocationally as a line leader in a  furniture manufacturing company in Grand Rapids.  He has gifts in mentoring, teaching, and servant leadership. 
Richard and Elizabeth have been engaged in micro-church planting for over two decades, and are excited to see what the Lord has planned in the next season here in this region, to connect people to the family of Christ house to house.

Gabriel & Dariel Bowen,
​Youth Ministry Coordinators

Gabriel & Dariel Bowen have served as Sunfield's youth ministry coordinators, since fall of 2024. They have a heart for discipling young people, and also for evangelism. They are on fire for Christ, and seek to live in alignment with His mission in their community. They live in Sunfield, MI, and have a daughter named River who is five. They have a boldness to go anywhere God calls them, and in 2023, they mobilized the entire church to partner with YWAM and another local church to build a house in the rain forest mountains of Costa Rica, doing evangelism and outreach in the local area there (read more at our Costa Rica Missions page). They are also co-vocational entrepreneurs who help employ people in the community through their company Bowen Workforce. Gabriel is also co-vocationally engaged with a Lake Odessa-based manufacturing company as a powder-coating operator.  They are engaged deeply in loving their neighbors and members of their community with the authentic love of Christ.

Nancy joined our team in the fall of 2023 as our office manager, bringing many years of administrative experience to our team. She has been a member at SUBC since 2020, but has been a part of our United Brethren denomination for many years. She brings gifts of administration, leadership, helps, spiritual care, and is a prayer warrior. She also has gifts of service, and volunteers regularly at our community food pantry. Nancy is a devoted mom and grandma, and lives in Vermontville, MI with her dog Beau.
